A Tamiya 1/700 scale model of the US Navy destroyer USS Hammann (DD-412), a Sims class ship commissioned in 1939. In 1942 she rescued men from the stricken carrier Lexington. She is best known for Midway. After rescuing the crew of the badly damaged carrier Yorktown, Hammann stayed alongside to help with repairs when a Japanese I-168 submarine attacked. She took a torpedo and sank. The kit captures the details of this historic ship, based on careful archive research for an accurate scale model. Fits: general hobby plastic models
