The 1955 Mille Miglia was won by the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, which set the fastest time in the event's history. Its car number, 722, became the name of the SLR McLaren 722 Edition, announced at the 2006 Paris Motor Show. That supercar's 5.5-liter supercharged V8 sits in a long-nose, short-deck body. Its output rose from 626hp to 650hp, and a firmer suspension, 10mm lower ride height and ceramic front brake discs sharpen the handling. Only 150 owners worldwide get this exclusive edition.
