Mazda's Eunos Roadster combined the driving pleasure and styling of a two-seat convertible with the performance of a true sports car, at an affordable price. The designers aimed for a light, nimble open two-seater that balanced comfort and performance, mixing modern automotive advances with traditional sports car qualities. The car uses a normally aspirated 1.6-liter, 116hp, DOHC, 16-valve inline-four with electronically controlled fuel injection and ignition. It is rear-wheel drive and has an ideal 50/50 weight distribution when fully loaded, which gives it excellent handling. Its body curves smoothly from the oval air intake at the front to the distinctive taillights. Designed from the start as a convertible, its body was made highly rigid to avoid the chassis flex common in open cars.
