About this part

The F-35 Lightning II is a highly advanced modern fighter, and it is now available in Tamiya's 1/48 Aircraft Series. This kit is the A variant. The F-35A is flown by the Air Force, the B variant by the Marines and the C variant by the Navy. The aircraft was developed under the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program and is counted among the fifth-generation fighters. It offers strong stealth characteristics, network connectivity and situational awareness from many integrated sensors. The first F-35 was delivered in 2015, and more than 3,000 are planned for deployment around the world. The name Lightning carries on from the P-38.
