Honda's first passenger production car was the S500, an open two-seat sports car announced at the 1962 Tokyo Motor Show and sold the following year. After the S800 ended production, Honda moved away from front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports cars until the S2000 was announced in September 1998. It keeps the traditional sports car look, with a long nose, short deck and headlights that wrap around the sides. The naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four DOHC VTEC makes over 250hp while cutting toxic exhaust emissions to a tenth of its predecessors.
