These skid plates for the Traxxas Mini Maxx and Mini XRT address a weak point in the stock design. On the stock plate the mounting screws are exposed to damage. A damaged screw can be nearly impossible to remove, and it can strip the bulkheads, which makes for slow, expensive repairs. These plates separate the skid ribs from the screw holes, which protects the screws and the bulkheads. The skid ribs also act as wear surfaces. RPM added a third rib, where stock has two, which increases durability, abrasion resistance, and overall strength.
