The Guillows P-51D Mustang is a rubber band powered balsa model of the North American fighter that is often regarded as the best all-around single seat piston engine fighter of World War II. The first U.S. Army Air Forces combat group reached Britain in November 1943. From then until the war's end, the Mustang built a strong reputation as a long range escort for the B-17 and B-24 bombers that struck deep into the German homeland.
